A historic logo which has marked the rise of the world's most famous Italian motorbike. An indelible symbol used as a graphic matrix to generate iconographic elements extrapolated from the world of racing: the wheel, the circuit, the flag and tire threads; each contextualized to the time period of the original logo in Ducati red. A graphic evolution for an iconic brand which has revolutionized the motorbike world and culture.
Undesign is a graphic design group born in Torino, Italy in 2003. It creates strong emotional identities, combining functional, formal and emotional aspects. Drawing on the interrelation between design and brand message it has created an artistic approach and philosophy called Undesign: design less, design better.
Aiming for a formal synthesis by progressing through subtraction, so as to reduce shapes and forms to the pure symbol of themselves. The path to design without unnecessary layers, objective and accessible to anyone. The world of applied arts and Italian graphic design of the 60’s and 70’s represent a constant reference for the Undesign group in its aesthetic research, as evidenced by its “Rosso/Nero” artwork commissioned by the International Museum of Applied Arts on occasion of the 100th anniversary of Futurism in February 2009, or its presence within the volume “Spaghetti Grafica” showcasing the best in contemporary Italian Graphic design, edited by Electa.
Undesign is: Michele Bortolami, Tommaso Delmastro, Dario Aschero , Paolo Anselmetti and Marco Nicastro
